My BEST FRIENDS Wedding

Peyton & Nicole Sherwood
April 30, 2011

My Greatest wish for the two of you is that through the years your love for each other will so deepen and grow, that years from now you will look back on this day, your wedding day, as the day you loved each other the least.

I could barely sleep the night before the wedding, maybe it was all the caffiene I had drank throughout the day, or maybe I was on a sugar high from all the gumballs I had to help consume, or maybe I was just so excited to see Nicole and Peyton get married. I am pretty sure all three played a part in me falling asleep, but ultimately I think it was the excitement of the events of the following day. I was like a kid on Christmas Eve. Once I was able to rest my mind and thoughts from running, I slept like a baby and awoke to a GORGEOUS Charleston day.

The day started off with all of being treated like princesses, getting our hair and make-up done. Jonny at G.A.T.E. salon did our make-up for the wedding and I was more than impressed. He did such an amazing job, especially on my eyes! I can not wait to mimick his work, the colors he used were definitely not ones I would have chosen, but obviously that's why he's the make-up artist, and not me! After make-up was on, and hair was done we headed out to Mepkin Abbey. Anyone who has never been out there, really needs to make the trip out there. It is such a wonderfulplace, so peaceful and naturally beautiful. We couldn't have asked for better weather, maybe a little breeze to cool down the hot South Carolina sun, but a great day for a wedding. The ceremony was beautiful. Peyton looked so handsome. Nicole looked stunnig. You could tell by looking at them how happy the other made them, and it was such an honour to stand next to Nicole on her special day.

After the ceremony. And the pictures. We were finally off to the RedBank Club for the reception. The wedding party were announced, and were ready to get this party started! Nicole & Peyton shared their first dance as husband and wife - Brad Paisely "She's Everything". We ate. We drank. We danced. We drank so more. And we danced all night, until it was time to send Nicole & Peyton off to their honeymoon Jamiaca! As for me, I ended the night at our favorite watering hole with my favorite single ladies (and by single, I mean not married) where we continued to celebrate the two of them. And celebrate we did... between the blackouts, make-outs, missing shoes and waking up still in our bridesmaid dresses, I know we would have made Nicole proud! :)

Fairy Tales

I believe in fairy tales.
I believe every girl is a princess.
I believe one day my "Prince Charming" will find me.
And I believe in happily ever after.

This slight obsession with fairy tales may stem from watching Sleeping Beauty, Snow White, The Little Mermaid, Beauty & the Beast and my all time favorite, Cinderella over and over and over again as a child. In any case I am a believer of fairy tales.

On April 29, 2011, I (along with Megan & Simone and the millions of other people) had the privilege of watching a real life fairy tale come true... Catherine Elizabeth Middleton married Prince William. Walt Disney could not have written this story any better if he tried. A handsome prince, who lost his beautiful mother at a young age, falls in love with a "commoner", they date, break-up, get back together, get married and "live happily ever after". We woke up at 4:30 that morning to ensure we did not miss a moment of our real life fairy tale. I wanted to soak it all in... the royalty, the celebrities, the fashion, especially the hats, and of course Prince Hottie Harry! I watched with excitement as one by one people arrived and were seated. I watched the Princes get in the car and arrive at the Cathedral. At first glance fell in love with Pippa's dress. And then I was taking back to my childhood when I saw Kate get out of her car, so graceful and poised, polished and put together. She was everything a princess should be. And Prince William, well, he looked just like a prince. The service was beautiful (a little long), and Kate Middleton and Prince William were now the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge. That was wonderful and all, but all I really wanted to see was the KISS!

Having the opportunity to watch this "real life fairy tale" come true gives me (and I am sure tons of other girls) hope that one day we will all have our shot at happily ever after. I know that I will never really marry a Prince or become an actual Princess, but you can not stop me from dreaming. After all, a dream is a wish your heart makes.

Girls Just Wanna HAVE FUN :)

*THE FUTURE MRS. SHERWOOD*

When Nicole called me last May to tell me she was engaged, I couldn't have been happier for her. Then she called me and asked me if I would be her Maid of Honor, and my excitement for the wedding and festivities leading up to it doubled or maybe even tripled. All I could think of was BACHERLORETTE PARTY! :) :) The only problem was Nicole worked EVERY weekend., so my original plans for a weekend away was out of the question. So we did the next best thing... Girls Night in Charleston!

The night started with dinner and drinks at Vickery's (where I had the shrimp and spinach linguine in lobster sauce and it was amazing, and recommend it to everyone). Then headed back to Kristin's, Nicole's soon to be sister-in-law, house for more COCKtails, gifts and something sweet. I wanted to do something fun and original, not the same ole penis cake and cookies, and that's when I remember about Laurie Lu's cookies. So I immediately e-mailed Lauren my ideas for the cookies and the color scheme, she was happy to help! And they turned out wonderfully! She made hot pink and black corsets, stilettos, feather boas and martini glasses for us and a special diamond ring for Nicole with her NEW initials. :)

Once all the gift's were opened and drinks were drank we headed downtown with Nicole's to-do list in hand and her dancing shoes on! She completed her to-do list with no problem... from dancing with a bald guy to getting 3 phone numbers to getting a pair of boxers. I still don't know how she (and Katie) convinced him to give them to her; all I know is she succeeded! She was also a managed to give 20 boys flavored condoms to ensure they have "safe sex". The boys in Charleston sure are gonna miss "single" Nicole, she definitely made sure they would never forget! :)

WOW
It's been almost 25 days since my last blog.

When I began this journey in blogging, I told my self I was going to blog daily, then it turned inot every other day, which turned into weekly and eventually turned into 3 weeks and no new blog! Well I haven't been neglecting blogging, I have just been so extremely busy... bachelorette pary (planning and attending), exams and practicals, weddings (royal and local), work and now a maymester class. But I can assure that this absence has given me LOTS to blog about so get ready... because I am BAAAAAAAAAAACK! :)

Wine in its self is an excellent thing

Thursday night I had my *first* wine tasting! :)

I met Trish at the Charleston Bridal Association Party, where I thought I was going to accompany Trish, meet new people, and enjoy yummy food and cocktails before we both went to the wine tasting. Boy, was I wrong! As soon as I get to the party, I meet Trish and we go have a seat a table where she introduces me to the six wines we would be taking to the tasting. 3 Reds. 3 Whites.

Occhioverde Merlot

Las Acequias Chardonnay

Occhioverde Merlot
Tacama, Seleccion Especial
Sangiovese di San Marino
Las Acequias Chardonnay
Aly Duhr Pinot Gris
Villa Marra Prosecco

Trish suggested I take notes while I tasted them, some I liked, some I disliked and I loooooooove the Pinot Gris! And then she sprung the news on me... I am doing this wine tasting ALONE! I definitely did not think I was ready to do a wine tasting alone, especially when I just tasted these myself. But Trish believed I could do this on my own, and that I did. So we packed my car with 6 cases if wine, directions to a private wine tasting in Ridgeville (yes, all they way out there) and just went with it. The whole drive there I kept mentally going over all my notes and tastes and my nerves finally calmed down.... until I pulled up to the house. I unpack the wines, and get ready for the tasting and my mind went blank. Completely blank. Thank goodness I am quick witted and little funny, and a full time drinker to get me through the event :) The women at this wine tasted ate it all up, I remember key parts once I got started, made them laugh and sold almost $200 worth of wine! Not to bad for my first wine tasting! Trish seemed to think so too!

In the upcoming weeks, I will be attending a wine tasting with Trish (and possibly her husband), hosting more private wine tasting and who knows what else she has up her sleeve!  I knew this was going to be an amazing oppurtunity, but I can not believe how incredible it really is! :)

I'm only a Cougar for Cocks :)

"Cougar Tuesday" was especially great this week. The GAMECOCKS were in town to play The Citadel, and of course I had to be there to see them in action. Not only are they the reigning National Champions, but did I mention a bunch of little hotties and oh so cute!! :) :) :) Totally serious when I say these boys have me (and Megan & Katie) crushin! But can you blame a girl?!

"One not only drinks the wine, one smells it, observes it, tastes it, sips it and - one talks about it."

Guess who just got a paid internship with a winery?!

THIS GIRL :) :) :)

It all started when Megan went for a meeting with Trish Digiliodo with SweetPea Nannies, and it turns out Trish is also the President of Vidalco winery in Charleston. They got to talking and Megan informed Trish that I was going to school for Event Planning and Trish told her she would love to meet with me and have me do wine tastings and events for them. Trish gave Megan her card and told her to have me e-mail her. So, obviously I did (right away). This was almost a month ago, and I hadn't heard anything back from her, and I knew it was just to good to be true. I was determined not to give up and I e-mailed her one more time, attached my resume and crossed my fingers, within the hour she e-mailed me back and told me she would love to meet with me and set up a meeting for last night at 8:00.

As soon as I got off work, had dinner with my mom and grandma, and rushed home to get ready for this meeting. And to be honest I was a little nervous. So I headed to meet Trish at her (amazing) house and was blown away with how nice she was, how enthusiastic she was to meet me and have me help her and her husband. We clicked right away. Discussed the type of things she would like for me to do for them, and she gave me a lot of information that will be so beneficial for me in the future! We talked a little about the wines they carry, and about some of the events they currently do, and some they are looking into. Trish asked if this oppurtunity was something I was interested in, and if I would like to help them with their events. I excitedly accepted! :)

And have my first "official" wine tasting Thursday evening and will also be attending my first event, The Charleston Bridal Association meeting, with Trish that same night! I am so excited about this oppurtunity, and all the knowledge I will gain by being a part of something like this is much bigger than the knowledge I will get in my one wine class I am planning on taking. AND this will give me more knowledge for all my future brides when it comes to pairing wines for their special day!

I feel like I am FINALLY on the right track to my dream job! :) :) :)
