Spring Internship

As you may (or may not) remember I was offered an internship with Vidalco wines last spring, well let's just say that did not turn as well as I had hoped. I had fun and learned about new wines but in the end it wasn't the right internship for me at that time. I am always looking for opportunities to get my foot in the door of the hospitality industry in Charleston, so when I found out the City of Charleston Office of Cultural Affairs was looking for spring interns I did not hesitate to apply Wednesday and was super excited when I was contacted later that day to come in that today for an interview with Kristin Claire (whom I adore - she is fabulous!) So naturally after meeting with her and hearing all the wonderful events I would get the chance to help with this spring ANYONE would have been an idiot to pass it up! 

Starting at the beginning of 2012 I will be officially apart of the Office of Cultural Affairs with Charleston - this means I will be helping with the Piccolo Spoleto Festival! Kristin Claire also let it slip that interns are responsible for the opening block party for Spoleto - from start to finish! I can not wait for that! :) OCA's other projects include: Holiday Magic in Historic Charleston, City of Charleston Tree Lighting Ceremony, Holiday Parade of Boats, Happy New Year Charleston!, Charleston Farmers Market, LowCountry Quarterly Arts Grants Programs, The New Perspectives Gallery, City Gallery as Waterfront Park and so many more! 


What a CRAZY semester I am going to have in the spring - full-time work schedule, full-time class schedule AND this internship - but it will be SO WORTH IT! Once I get started with Cultural Affairs expects lots of new blogs! :)

Mike and Melissa got married on a cold (one of the few) day in November  - which meant I got to pull out my white pea-coat for the first time of the season :) The wedding took place at the brides childhood church, and the reception was little venue on East Bay. They are such a great couple and was so happy I was able to celebrate their special day with them. The day was full of fun, family and lots and lots of love!

Fall Wedding #1

My "Reception" Date

 Brandon & Gina got married Saturday at the Summerall Chapel at the Citadel. Reception was at the Francis Marion Hotel downtown Charleston. Completely unlike me... I left my camera in the car for the actual ceremony, and was not very attentive during the most important parts of the reception i.e. First Dance, Father/Daughter Dance, Toast, etc. I was being a complete social butterfly, and it didn't help my "reception" date Cheserae had my camera in the pocket of her cute little bridesmaid dress.

Mac-Off

YES! You did read that correctly... A macaroni & cheese competition. I swear this foodie wannabe was in heaven! Carly, Katie and my self attended this amazing event. Doors opened at 7, but naturally, we got there fashionably late and missed out on a few competitors, but we definitely got our fill!

After the Mac-Off we headed over to The MacIntosh for an after "dinner" Patron shot. This was the start of a long night downtown... We then headed to (and ended the night at) The Cocktail Club were we drank some amazing specialty cocktails and champagne. We were out way past our "curfew" that night, but Saturday's hangover was well worth Friday night's fun!

Four years ago, we lost one of the most beautiful people - inside and out. That same day Heaven gain an even more beautiful angel. Every year on this day I see the most beautiful sunrises and sunsets. I think it is her way of sending her sign <3

All RED STARBURTS! OMG - I literally think I died and went to heaven! I do not how long this amazing idea has been on the market, but I just found out about this urban food myth this week and was bound and determined to get them immediately! Not only are they all red, but there is a WATERMELON! If you didn't know before this all my favorite things are watermelon. That being said, if you do not already own stock in Starburts, it wouldn't be a bad idea to buy in now, because I can guarantee I will keep their stocks up now with this amazingness!
