Wine in its self is an excellent thing

Thursday night I had my *first* wine tasting! :)

I met Trish at the Charleston Bridal Association Party, where I thought I was going to accompany Trish, meet new people, and enjoy yummy food and cocktails before we both went to the wine tasting. Boy, was I wrong! As soon as I get to the party, I meet Trish and we go have a seat a table where she introduces me to the six wines we would be taking to the tasting. 3 Reds. 3 Whites.

Occhioverde Merlot

Las Acequias Chardonnay

Occhioverde Merlot
Tacama, Seleccion Especial
Sangiovese di San Marino
Las Acequias Chardonnay
Aly Duhr Pinot Gris
Villa Marra Prosecco

Trish suggested I take notes while I tasted them, some I liked, some I disliked and I loooooooove the Pinot Gris! And then she sprung the news on me... I am doing this wine tasting ALONE! I definitely did not think I was ready to do a wine tasting alone, especially when I just tasted these myself. But Trish believed I could do this on my own, and that I did. So we packed my car with 6 cases if wine, directions to a private wine tasting in Ridgeville (yes, all they way out there) and just went with it. The whole drive there I kept mentally going over all my notes and tastes and my nerves finally calmed down.... until I pulled up to the house. I unpack the wines, and get ready for the tasting and my mind went blank. Completely blank. Thank goodness I am quick witted and little funny, and a full time drinker to get me through the event :) The women at this wine tasted ate it all up, I remember key parts once I got started, made them laugh and sold almost $200 worth of wine! Not to bad for my first wine tasting! Trish seemed to think so too!

In the upcoming weeks, I will be attending a wine tasting with Trish (and possibly her husband), hosting more private wine tasting and who knows what else she has up her sleeve!  I knew this was going to be an amazing oppurtunity, but I can not believe how incredible it really is! :)

I'm only a Cougar for Cocks :)

"Cougar Tuesday" was especially great this week. The GAMECOCKS were in town to play The Citadel, and of course I had to be there to see them in action. Not only are they the reigning National Champions, but did I mention a bunch of little hotties and oh so cute!! :) :) :) Totally serious when I say these boys have me (and Megan & Katie) crushin! But can you blame a girl?!

"One not only drinks the wine, one smells it, observes it, tastes it, sips it and - one talks about it."

Guess who just got a paid internship with a winery?!

THIS GIRL :) :) :)

It all started when Megan went for a meeting with Trish Digiliodo with SweetPea Nannies, and it turns out Trish is also the President of Vidalco winery in Charleston. They got to talking and Megan informed Trish that I was going to school for Event Planning and Trish told her she would love to meet with me and have me do wine tastings and events for them. Trish gave Megan her card and told her to have me e-mail her. So, obviously I did (right away). This was almost a month ago, and I hadn't heard anything back from her, and I knew it was just to good to be true. I was determined not to give up and I e-mailed her one more time, attached my resume and crossed my fingers, within the hour she e-mailed me back and told me she would love to meet with me and set up a meeting for last night at 8:00.

As soon as I got off work, had dinner with my mom and grandma, and rushed home to get ready for this meeting. And to be honest I was a little nervous. So I headed to meet Trish at her (amazing) house and was blown away with how nice she was, how enthusiastic she was to meet me and have me help her and her husband. We clicked right away. Discussed the type of things she would like for me to do for them, and she gave me a lot of information that will be so beneficial for me in the future! We talked a little about the wines they carry, and about some of the events they currently do, and some they are looking into. Trish asked if this oppurtunity was something I was interested in, and if I would like to help them with their events. I excitedly accepted! :)

And have my first "official" wine tasting Thursday evening and will also be attending my first event, The Charleston Bridal Association meeting, with Trish that same night! I am so excited about this oppurtunity, and all the knowledge I will gain by being a part of something like this is much bigger than the knowledge I will get in my one wine class I am planning on taking. AND this will give me more knowledge for all my future brides when it comes to pairing wines for their special day!

I feel like I am FINALLY on the right track to my dream job! :) :) :)

My *NEW* LipGloss be Poppin'

I went shopping yesterday (I know.. surprise surprise) and ran into Express to pick up a dress I have been dying to have, and I upon check-out I needed to spend $5 to get fast cash, so I grabbed a lipgloss. The girls at Express told me about the newest color/flavor "Plum Passion". Well, first off I have NEVER been a fan of plums so I was unsure about the taste. Secondly it's purple and I am not a purple girl. It seems like I have tried all the other colors, so I figured it was worth a shot.....

AND I LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOVE IT!

Name Game

I was catching up on my blogging, and saw this on Kady's blog (http://bluthardts.blogspot.com/) and decided it would be a good way to end the night...

The Name Game

How did you parents decide on your name?
My first name is my maternal great grandmother's maiden name.
My middle name is my maternal grandmother's name.

Do your initials (first/middle/last) spell anything funny?
HEL! Yes they do. No, literally... Haley Elizabeth Lisk.
Notice the play on that "HEL in Heels" :) :) :)

Did you take your middle name from childhood or did you drop your middle name and take your maidenname as your middle name?  (Or if unmarried, what do you plan to do?)
I will keep all of my names, add a hyphen and his last name. This is my plan,
and I am sticking to it!

Are you or will you name your children systematically (ie, same first letter, same origin, etc?)
.
Yes, I want them to have the same monogram.

Did you decide on names as a little girl?  Did you stick to them or change your mind?

I have had my baby girl's name picked out FOREVER! And anyone whos knows me should know it. She will have this name! :)
Does your family have any names that have been passed down through generations?
Jennings Bradford (Jenks)

Do you look at the meaning of the name or just the name itself?
Currently, just the name.

Do you name pet names with human names or dog names?
In the past all of our pets have had pet names, but I can't say that anymore! Bella Mae should definitely belong to a human, not a yorkipoo :)

Are there any names that you have an affinity or dislike for based on a childhood experience or someone you once knew?
Yes
.
What are some of your favorite names and why?
I loooooooove boy names for girls, I just always have. My daughter will have a "boy name" with a feminine spelling. And as a Carolina Girl I also love good ole southern names :)

Your turn!

Confidence is BEAUTIFUL

This morning on my way to work, I was listening to Two Girls & a Guy and they were talking about this viewer who had lost 50 pounds (which is awesome) and her boyfriend is not attracted to her anymore. Well, this obviously is when the listeners in Charleston get a chance to speak their minds, somethings I agreed with and clearly there were somethings I did NOT agree on, and had to speak my mind.....

Kelly G & Mike stated that when they were heavier they got more hook-ups and more attention, to which the comment was made that the opposite sex sees "heavier" people as easier to get with, because they do not have to work as hard because "heavier" people have lower self esteem. This is the exact moment I almost ran into the car infront of me! I was/am flabergasted that people actually sterotype curvy girls as having low self esteem, and an easy target. Anyone and EVERYone I meet will be able to tell them differently!

Being beautiful and confident has NOTHING to do with the size of your jeans, how big your boobs are, how long your hair is, or anything superficial like that. Beauty comes from within. All women are beautiful, but they have to see it and believe it for themselves before anyone else is going to see it too. When you are confident in your self you beauty will light up the room. Confidence is BEAUTIFUL, everything else is icing on the cake! All my friends are smaller than me, and all so very beautiful on there on own, but when you see us together you would not be able to tell me I am less beautiful because I am not as skinny! Honey, if anything, I would say I get more attention because I have the confidence about me, the way I carry myself, the way I dress all the way down the the FABULOUS shoes I wear.

I had the oppurtunity to voice my opinion on the radio this morning, and I am sure I made my opinion VERY CLEAR! And the next time someone wants to assume because I a curvy girl, I have low self esteem or am easy, try to walk in my stilletos... you won't last 10 minutes. So, THANK YOU to Two Girls & a Guy for giving a curvy girl a chance to speak her mind and give the LowCountry a little something to think about. And a *special* THANK YOU to Tanya Brown, who, even over the phone, could tell how confident I am! :)
